Action
Description:
Mechanism of Action: Lidocaine and tetracaine are local anaesthetic agents that work by stabilising neuronal membranes and inhibiting sodium ion fluxes required for initiation and conduction of impulses. Epinephrine is a potent agonist on both α and β-adrenoceptors. It is usually used with local anaesthetics to slow down diffusion and prolong drug action.
Onset: 20-30 minutes.
